QUETTA - At least three suspected terrorists including key commander of a banned outfit were killed during a raid by Frontier Corps (FC) in Turbat on Tuesday.
Frontier Corps (FC) spokesman told the media that operation was held on a tip-off about the presence of criminal elements. The alleged terrorists opened fire at security officers retaliating to which, all the three militants were killed.
The spokesman said that the miscreants were involved in heinous crimes and other acts of terrorism. However, forces also claimed to have confiscated huge cache of weapons from the possession of dead suspects.
Officials said more than 3,000 militants have been killed since the launch of the latest offensive in tribal areas of Pakistan.
Security forces have been battling militants for over a decade following the late 2001 US-led invasion of Afghanistan.
FC MAN MARTYRED IN BLAST: A Frontier Corps personal was martyred and two others injured in a remote-controlled bomb blast in Mastung on Tuesday.
The bomb was planted near a water tanker that was used for supplying water to the FC checkposts in the area. Constable Tariq was martyred while Naik Imtiaz and constable Naveed were seriously injured when the bomb blast occurred.
The injured were shifted to hospital for medical treatment. Search operation has been launched in the area to apprehend the culprits involved in the bomb blast.
27 AFGHANS INCLUDING WOMEN DETAINED: More than two dozen Afghan nationals have been detained on the Coastal Highway near Gwadar in Balochistan.
The Pakistan Coast Guard (PCG) announced arresting 52 alleged illegal immigrants, including 27 Afghans near the Shahjahan checkpost.
In a statement, the PCG said its team held the ‘trespassers’ who were allegedly trying to cross the Iranian border without valid documents.
During snap checking, PCG officers arrested the individuals, including 10 women, and handed them over to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) immigration cell.
