Probe launched as infant dies of measles

DASKA - The Health Department has launched an inquiry into the death of a 40-day-old girl Jannat Ejaz allegedly because of unavailability of anti measles vaccine.
The deceased’s family alleged that their child died due to the negligence of the health officials at village JehangirGoindkey in Daska. DHO Dr Javaid Warraich told the newsmen that measles vaccine was being provided for children. “However, we are probing the matter followed by the family’s allegations,” he said.
Local labourer Ejaz Ahmed’s daughter died of measles in the village on Monday. The grieved family said that the concerned officials were repeatedly contacted for giving vaccinating the girl but they did not vaccinate her. Resultantly, the infant died. On the other side, the health officials were of the view that they were not contacted by the family in this regard.
