Haripur- Another convict is to be hanged in Punjab’s Haripur central jail as authorities received his death warrants.
According to media reports, convicted murderer Shoaib Sarwar is likely to be executed in next three days. Sarwar is the first civilian who is being hanged for a non-terror related offence since 2008. His death warrant was issued and received by the jail administration today.
Pakistan lifted a six-year moratorium on the death penalty last month in the case of convicted terrorists following the Peshawar school attack which killed 150 people. Since then, 20 people have been hanged. There are nearly 8,000 death row convicts in Pakistan.
