The Education Department decision to assign six teachers of Govt Girls High School Nizampura to examination duty, will cause irreparable lose to the students and will leave the school without teachers for days, The Nation has learnt reliably.
According to the documents, the sanctioned strength of the school is nine but currently there are only six teachers in the school.
Now after the deployment of the six teachers to perform duty during the class 9th and 10th examinations, to be commenced from February 1 (Monday), will leave the school without teachers. This situation will suffer education of the girl students in the school which is already understaffed.
According to a notification of the Education Department, the teachers - Rashida Parveen, Iffat Ghafoor, Nasreen Akhtar, Dault Bibi, Shagufta Arshad and Shagufta of the school will perform duty during the upcoming examinations of class 9th and 10th.
Parents of some students expressed their concern over the “imprudent and illogical decision” of the Education Department.
They argued that the school is already short of the requisite number of teachers and the deployment of the available teachers would deal a blow to studies of the students.
“The basic responsibility of the teachers is to impart education to students and the government is duty bound to make arrangements for the staff to supervise examination through other sources,” they emphasised.
The worried parents urged Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to take notice of the department decision and order stern action against officers for making such anti-education decisions.
On the other hand, the school has already been running without basic facilities and the students are compelled to get education under hard circumstances.
An officer of the local education department, seeking anonymity, criticised the deployment of teachers for examination duty. He said that such decisions on the part of the bureaucracy have destroyed the education.
The residents of Nizampura have demanded DCO Salman Ghani, the Commissioner Lahore Division and the Punjab chief minister to stop implementation of such anti-education decisions.
This correspondent made several attempt to seek Kasur DCO Salman Ghani’s comment but was told that the DCO was attending an important meeting.
Later, he was called on his cell no 0304-0920062 repeatedly but he did not pick the call.
When contacted EDO Education Zulfiqar Ali said that he had not taken the decision. He said that all decision regarding deployment of teachers is made by the Education Department in Lahore.
