OKARA - Dacoits injured an ASI and a constable when police reached to rescue citizens on Hujra-Chunia Road here Friday. According to sources, bandits were looting people on Hujra-Chunia Road and opened fire at police when they when reached to rescue the victims, injuring ASI Tariq and constable Abdur Rehman critically. The injured were shifted to Okara DHQ Hospital. Okara DPO Dr Raja Abid Hussain has ordered the police personnel to arrest the criminals immediately. Anti-encroachment drive lauded: The local social welfare unions have lauded the campaign against encroachments in the city, stressing that the drive should continue till complete removal of encroachers. They appealed to the Sahiwal commissioner to carry out the action against grabbers without any discrimination as the encroachments are a blot in the face of city. However, they said, some influential people creating hurdles to the crackdown. The commissioner is requested to take notice of this slackness on the part of Administration and issue directives to them to demolish all encroachments.
