MULTAN - The Awami Sailab Conference of flood-hit people across the country will be held at Chenab Park along the river bank on Saturday (today). The conference will be attended by the flood-hit people from Layyah, Muzaffargarh, DG Khan, Rajanpur, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh. Despite lapse of one year, the woes of flood affectees still stand high. Theyre shelterless, penniless and most of all helpless. Government has done nothing for them, said Khalida Nadeem, district coordinator of a flood affectees tehreek. She said that funds worth over Rs250 million were available with the PM and CM Relief Funds but nothing was being given to the affectees. Even second instalment of Watan Card is not being issued, she lamented. She pointed out that the flood swept away Kukkarwala dyke in Layyah, Abbaswala Bund in Kot Addu and Supper Bund in UC Sheikh Umar but nothing was done to repair these dykes. Even seepage has started from Abbaswala Bund that is claimed to be repaired recently. NEW PRICE LIST OF EDIBLES ISSUED: The district administration has issued a new price list of edibles under Price Control Act and the traders are asked to ensure supply of commodities in light with the list otherwise strict action will be taken against them. The district coordination officer Multan Zahid Akhtar Zaman directed the traders on Thursday to display rate list at a visible place and comply with the control rate given by the administration. He warned that all those, violating the rate list, would be liable to a strict action. He said that the secretary market committee would issue notification of rates of fruits and vegetables on daily basis. He said that the district administration was determined to supply edibles and other daily use items at control rate to the masses during the holy month of Ramadan.
