CHITRAL - Two shepherds were killed by about three dozen attackers who came from Afghanistan in a far-flung area of Chitral near Pak-Afghan border on Thursday-Friday night. At least 35 armed assailants who came from Afghan province of Nooristan attacked five shepherds in Ghari area of Bhamborat. The shepherds offered resistance but were not able to fight with 35 people equipped with heavy and automated weapons. Three managed to escape while two were killed.
Sources said the two shepherds were slaughtered by the attackers but official sources haven’t confirmed their slaying.
Local residents said that firing continued for long time but police and other law enforcement agencies present few kilometres from the scene of the attack reached there after a delay providing an opportunity to assailants to escape.
