KARACHI: New Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah Saturday signed a summary to extend special policing powers of Pakistan Rangers, Sindh.
According to the Home Department, a notification has been issued in this regard.The Rangers powers have been extended for 90 days.
Former President and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari had given approval for the long overdue decision of extension of the Rangers’ stay in Sindh during a party meeting in Dubai.
The summary for the extension of Rangers powers had been lying with the former Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah but he did not sign them as the PPP leadership did not approve them. The Rangers powers ended on the 19th of July. However the new notification says that the powers have been extended from the 20th of July, 2016.
Chief Minister of Sindh, Murad Ali Shah was given guard of honour by police upon his arrival at the Chief Minister House on Saturday.
The 27th Chief Minister of the province took oath as the fresh appointment on Friday after he secured 88 votes in Sindh Assembly.
After he arrived at the Chief Minister House today, in first set of official meetings, he sat with Sindh Secretary, Siddique Memon and Inspector General of Police AD Khawaja. The meetings discussed different matters of provincial importance including law and order situation. The CM asked the chief secretary to issue an order to the staff to maintain punctuality.
Different other secretaries also held meeting with the new Chief Minister.
