Eunuchs demand place in CNIC, graveyards

SIALKOT - A eunuchs representative at the district level on Wednesday demanded a special column for eunuchs in Computerised National Identity Card and the allocation of specific area for eunuchs in local graveyards for their burial. Talking to the media, guru Iqbal alias Reema also expressed concerns over the federal and provincial budgets for the current fiscal year, saying nothing was announced for the community. Reema termed the budgets nothing more than jugglery of words, observing no government had so far thought for the welfare of eunuchs. However, the leader hailed the survey for the registration of eunuchs following the orders of Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry. The guru said that it was the first time in the history of Pakistan, when somebody has seriously thought about the welfare and registration of eunuchs. The guru thanked the chief justice on behalf of the community in this regard. Reema also urged the government to also focus on the early solution to problems. She said that they had also been facing some social problems, saying that the people of any locality often refuse to give their houses on rent to eunuchs. He/she complained against hooting whenever they passed through a public place. We are human being. We also have sentiments and feelings. We have a right to be friends. We also need love. We dont commit wrongdoings. We earn by dancing and performing in functions. We seek welfare package by the government for being the citizens of Pakistan. We should also be given due respect in society at every place because we deserve it, it was said. SCCI for special trade package: The Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Wednesday urged the federal government to announce a special package for business community following China and India so as to speed up industrial and trade development. Talking to the media, SCCI Vice-President Mirza Qaisar Baig said that the government should announce a special subsidized tariff of electricity, gas and telephone bills and should make these utilities cheaper for the business community.
