Sultan demands European envoy on Kashmir

ISLAMABAD - Kashmiri people on both sides of the divide pin high hopes on European Parliament, and expect it would nominate a representative and facilitate intra-Kashmir dialogue enabling leadership of both sides to interact. Former Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Barrister Sultan Mehmood said this at a joint press conference with Sajjad Karim, Member European Parliament here on Wednesday. Sultan said European Parliament as a democratic institution had always been taking initiatives, and nominating a representative would help keep abreast it of fresh situation. The European Parliament, the former AJK premier said, had been playing key role in ensuring peace, Kashmir and Indo-Pak region. However, he argued settlement of Kashmir Dispute was imperative for bringing about peace in the region as well as figuring out problems in Afghanistan.
