QUETTA - The local police rounded up over two dozen suspects on Friday in connection with Hazar Gunji car bombing in different raids from Sariab area of Quetta.Police official Amanullah Kakar told this scribe that the police party carried out different raids in Sariab area and rounded up two dozen suspects for interrogation purpose. He said that police action was aimed at to get any clue through the interrogation of these suspects ,otherwise, they would be allowed to go. He, however, hoped that the police might get any information which might lead it to track down the real culprits.A car carrying 40 to 50 kg of IED exploded when a passenger bus of Shia pilgrims passed by in the area in the outskirts of Quetta killing 11 pilgrims and two guards and injuries to scores of others. Banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi claimed responsibility and said that its volunteer Zia-ur-Rahman Farooqi conducted the suicide attack against the bus carrying Shia pilgrims.Police is yet to establish whether it was a suicide blast or remote controlled explosion that threw the bus 20 feet away. “We could not establish whether it was a remote controlled or suicide blast as many bodies were blown into pieces, however, police experts are investigating carefully”, Amanullah Kakar, SP Sariab said.On the other hand collective funeral of 11 people belonging to Shia community was held in their main graveyard on Friday noon. A large number of people from the community attended the funeral.Capital City Police Officer Mir Zubair Mahmood alongwith DIG investigations Hamid Shakeel held a meeting with the notables of Hazara Community at Nechari Imambargah and apprised them about the security arrangements made on the eve of funeral and movement of community members through the sensitive area. They also discussed the modalities of security during the movement of pilgrims in future in the wake of Hazar Gunji incident from Quetta to Iranian border which is about 700 km from here.Meanwhile, complete strike was observed in Quetta on the call of Hazara Democratic Party and Wahdad-e-Muslimeen backed by Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party on Friday. All shops, markets, business centers were closed in response to the strike call.Meanwhile, A person was shot dead in Quetta while a body was found dumped in Khuzdar on Friday.According to police, unidentified armed assailants riding a motorbike opened indiscriminate firing on a man at Sariab Road of Quetta. Resultantly, he sustained critical injuries and died on the spot. Police rushed to the site after the incident and moved the body to hospital for medico-legal formalities where the deceased was identified as Muhammad Iqbal. However, motive behind the killing could not be ascertained.Police has registered a case against unidentified people and started further investigations.In Khuzdar, a body was found dumped in Salehabad area of Khuzdar, some 360km southeast of Quetta.Local people spotted a body lying at Saleh Muhammad area and informed police which rushed to spot and moved it to hospital for postmortem where the victim was identified as Shabbir Ahmed alias Shabu, resident of Gazgai Balochabad. However, it could not be known immediately when the victim went missing.Police has registered a case and started further investigations into the incident.Meanwhile, explosives planted with a shop in Sui town of Dera Bugti exploded with a huge blast and partially damaged the shop. However, no loss of life was reported in the blast.
