LAHORE- The Sunni Tehreek Ulema Board on Monday made a compassionate appeal to the armed militants, working under the Taliban, to surrender arms.
Over 300 scholars of Sunni Tehreek Ulema Board appealed the top Taliban leaders to persuade their factions in giving up arms.
Ulema said Islam is the religion of peace and it preaches tolerance and brotherhood. They urged the top Taliban leaders to surrender arms in respect of the holy month of Ramazan.
They said militant groups must stop their terrorist activities forthwith during this holy month. Ulema said thousands of families were forced to flee their homes in Waziristan due to the Taliban threat.
It may be noted here that security forces in North Waziristan had launched operation against militants. At least 376 terrorists had been killed in air strikes by security forces.  The army began ground offensive on Monday in which 15 terrorists had been killed.
