Army to be deployed for GB LB polls

GILGIT - About 6,000 army men would be deployed for election duties in all seven district of Gilgit-Baltistan.
Official sources of Home Department Gilgit-Baltistan told The Nation on Friday that the Pakistan Army will be on duty from 1st June to 15 June.
Chief Election Commissioner Gilgit-Baltistan (CEC) summoned the armed forces under Article 245 of the Constitution. He said that the army has been mandated with overall security during elections, adding that in particular army would monitor the printing, dispatch of ballot papers and ensure peace on polling. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan meanwhile said that no one can prevent women from exercising their right to vote.
