LAHORE - An electricity transformer exploded at Ferozepur Road near Kalama Chowk, killing three people and injuring some others on Friday night, say to rescue sources.
Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif sought report from Inspector General Punjab Police and asked him to look into the incident comprehensively. He also directed health authorities to provide best possible treatment to the injured.
Sources said that panic gripped the area after the explosion while traffic on the road also remained hindered for some time which was later smoothened by the traffic police.
According to some reports, the blast was occurred after a police officer stopped a suicide bomber from moving towards Gaddafi Stadium. The officer was killed in the blast.
Talking to a private TV channel, Federal Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid said the media has acted with responsibility regarding the incident.
