KARACHI The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday issued directive to Defence Secretary to submit affidavits from officials of intelligence agencies regarding alleged abduction of nationalist leader Abdul Ghaffar Lango, hailing from Balochistan, who went missing last year. Lieutenant General (Retd) Syed Athar Ali, Secretary Defence, appeared before a division bench consisted of Justice Gulzar Ahmed and Justice Imam Bux Baloch wherein he submitted that the missing person Ghaffar Lango, leader of Balochistan National Party BNP, was not in the custody of the ISI, MI, and Islamabad police. He submitted that he had been informed by the officials of the said security agencies and the capital police that the missing person had not been arrested by them nor they were behind of his abduction. The Secretary also submitted that a judicial commission, formed on the order of the apex court, was working in missing person issue, and the Abdul Ghaffar Lango case was also under proceed before the commission. Akhter Hussain advocate, counselling on behalf of the petitioner, requested the court that the secrete agencies, who claimed that they did not pick up BNP leader, should be directed to submit their affidavits. Granting his request the court issued directive to Additional Advocate General Shafi Memon, who appeared before the court on behalf of respondents, to submit affidavits from the law enforcement agencies that come in the domain of the Sindh govt, on the next date. The court also issued directive to the Defence Secretary to submit affidavits from the intelligence officials which claimed that the missing person was in their custody. The court after hearing their comments adjourned the hearing till December 24. Niaz Ahmed Lango brother of missing BNP leader submitted the constitutional petition seeking his whereabouts. The plaintiff while filing a petition through his counsel Akhtar Hussain advocate has submitted that his brother had gone missing on 11 December, 2009 as he was returning from a hospital located in Garden area, wherein his wife was under medical treatment.
