PESHAWAR - The government primary schools teachers of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have demanded up-gradation and time-scale promotion and warned to launch a protest movement against the provincial government, if their demands are not accepted within two weeks.
The demand was made by Qualified Primary Teachers Association (QPTA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Chairman Saleem Javed, while addressing a news conference at the Press Club here on Tuesday.
He said that primary teachers were playing a vital role in the promotion of education across the province. Despite this fact, he said, successive governments had ignored them in terms of promotion and up-gradation. He said the government is following into the footsteps of its predecessors, and using delaying tactics to give pay-scale and general pay-scale to primary teachers.  "We will not tolerate further discrimination with qualified primary school teachers," he warned.
Flanked by Association's General Secretary, Muhammad Iqbal, President district Peshawar Naeem Jan and scores of primary teachers, Javed said the provincial government had come to power with the slogan of change and promotion of education. "If the government is serious to promote education, it should fully implement National Education Policy 2009,"he said.
Javed said the primary schools teachers are best as compared to teachers of other cadres. He demanded of the government to up-grade primary teachers as per qualifications.
He also said that primary school teachers are basically elementary school teachers, which had been excluded from the elementary group under a conspiracy, which couldn't acceptable to them.
