KARACHI The Syndicate of the Karachi University (KU) has reviewed various commercial projects to get control over the financial crunch prevailing in the largest university of the country. The meeting, which was held here on Sunday, rejected the appeal of M Zahid Maqsood and approved the decision of removal of M Zahid Maqsood from the post of Chief Security Officer. The syndicate spent more than two hours in discussing the security issues of the campus, and set up a committee, comprising Senator Haseeb Ahmed Khan, Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr Nasir Khan and Dr Shakeel Farooqi. KU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui headed the meeting. Before the commencement of the meeting, a students wing of a national political party entered the meeting room and had a meeting with the KU Vice Chancellor. The activists of the political wing demanded the KU chief to erase the punishment of their comrade Muneer Balooch. However, the meeting was also attended by Senator Haseeb Ahmed Khan. The meeting expressed its grave concern over the meagre performance of the security guards of the Karachi University, and discussed the security of the Karachi University that has become the prime issue of the campus. The committee is directed to find out security experts for the solution of the security problems. It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan Rangers deployed at the campus of Karachi University have already moved back from the security of the University due to the uncooperative attitude of the KU administration.
