EOBI officials accused of bribe demand

MINCHINABAD - The Private School Owners Association protested against unprecedented decisions of the Employees Old-Age Benefits (EOAB) Bahawalnagar Assistant Director and called for his resignation.
The angry protesters wearing arm bandages assembled outside Minchinabad Press Club and chanted slogans against the EOAB Assistant Director here the other day.
They said that the EOB Assistant Director, violating his authority, was showing enmity towards the private schools instead of rightful implementation of EOB Act 1976.
“Soon after the first letter calling for registration, he issues a reminder for one week notice following the threat of strict actions,” they said.
They also blamed that the Assistant Director was demanding heavy bribe from the school owners.
They demanded the authorities concerned to take notice against the official.
End to power outages stressed: Scores of people staged protest demonstration to express their resentment over 20 hours prolonged power outages, here in Chishtian the other day.
The unscheduled and prolonged power cuts had not only crippled the business activities but also adversely affected daily routine of the people of the area.
Vexed over the unbearable outages, scores of people staged demo at Sugar Mills Road, they set ablaze tires and threw traffic out of gear for an hour.
They marched through the Fowara Chowk, Highway Road Tehsil Office Road and reached at Assistant commissioner Office to get their protest recorded.
Later, the protest culminated peacefully.
Meanwhile, AC Ahad Dogar , SDPO Anwar Chisti strongly resented the electricity situation in the area and said that thousands of people were adversely affected and reached at the verge of starvation as their business activities remained suspended  most of the time due to unbearable power cuts.
On the other hand, they said, people were also suffering due to inflated electricity bills.
