CMIT visits JPS&C to probe allegations

MANDI BAHAUDDIN - Punjab CM Inspection Team led by its chairman Major (r) Shah Nawaz arrived here to probe into mismanagement allegations of District Jinnah Public School and College and termination of seven teachers including the principal by the Board of Governors.  The probe was ordered by CM Shahbaz Sharif on the application of school Principal Col (r) Ashiq Hussain.
The team recorded statements of the principal and other sacked teachers as well as members of the Board of Governors dealing with school administration.
When the probe was in progress, dozens of students’ parents and members of civil society gathered outside the college and protested against the BoG members.  They raised slogans against the board and demanded restoration of the sacked teachers. 
On the occasion, several parents lamented that they had been paying very high fees but recent tussle between the board and the principal had jeopardized their children education and future.  They urged the government to disband the present board and constitute a new one, consisting of honest and competent notables.
On the other side, the board members told that the principal could not manage school affairs effectively and there were certain allegations of financial irregularities against him.  Therefore, they terminated service of few teachers to save the school from loss and financial crisis.
Regarding the principal, they said he himself resigned and the board accepted his resignation. They claimed they were life members of the board and the school is trust institution.
Board senior member Gulzar Gujar of Chelianwala said the principal threatened in the past at several occasions to resign in case his pay was not increased.
It may be mentioned that board of governors comprise 9 members and the DCO serve as board chairman while Punjab CM school pattern-in-chief.
