6,000 bottles of liquor seized; woman, another held

The police claimed to have recovered over 6,000 bottles of liquor and arrested two vintners including a woman while their three accomplices succeeded in escaping from the scene here in the Cant Police precincts.
According to police sources, during snap-checking the police intercepted a motorcycle rickshaw and upon search cartons full of liquor bottles were found. After preliminary interrogation, the police conducted a raid on a house in Gulsham Saddique and seized more than 6,000 bottles of liquor besides raw wine. The police also arrested a lady identified as Umaira Sajjid and her accomplice Akhtar Shah while patron of the illicit business namely Dr Aoun Mohammad and his felons Amir Mesh and Ghulam Mohammad fled away. Sources told that Dr Aoun Mohammad allegedly claimed to be an activist of the PML-N. The police have launched raids to nick the fleeing accused.
