LAHORE - MNAs and MPAS are now facing another test. Now lists of the assets submitted by them to the Election Commission have been brought under scrutiny, in addition to their educational degrees. In the first stage in this regard all information supplied by them to the EC in their election performas has been collected which will be compared and contrasted with the assets actually possessed by them. As per govt sources, some very stunning facts of clearly visible contradictions are surfacing which are sufficient to expose the dishonesty and false play of a big number of assembly thus amounting to clear violation of Articles 62, 63 of the Constitution. There is a goodly number of parliamentarians and lawmakers coming of some famous political dynasties who, despite being the third generation of their respective dynasty, have been providing fake information of their assets, the sources said. So much so the heads of certain political parties appear to be living hand to mouth as per their assets record, whereas the fact remains that they rank among the rich people of the world. The sources report that a federal agency has already collected the list of assets from the election commission and started a probe. The govt sources tell that the preliminary probe has brought to light some millionaires, even billionaires who have shown their assets worth only hundred thousands. They have declared the prices of their multi-storey plazas and costly bungalows as worth mere half a million or at the most a million. Majority of the assembly members have declared the prices of vehicles in their use, as not more than 400,000, 600,000 or at the most 800,000. The source, however, kept from exposing perhaps out of care, as to where the directions to launch such a probe have been issued from. All that we can say, is that the entire process is legal and Constitutional, sources remarked.
