Mush regime improved ties with India: Kasuri

ISLAMABAD - Former foreign minister, Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri said that realism and idealism both were important for the formulation of a foreign policy. He said this while addressing the Youth Parliament Pakistans first session after the plane crash in which its six members including Prime Minister were killed. Kasuri began his speech by offering condolences on the death of its six members. He commended the Youth Parliament of Pakistan for displaying maturity by holding the session despite the huge loss and said that it would be a befitting tribute to their martyred members. He said that Pakistan had failed to tell the world about its role in the war against terrorism and militancy. The Youth Parliament projects soft image of Pakistan and the project to promote leadership potential among the youth should be encouraged, Kasuri stated. The role of leadership is important in mobilising people. Our Government improved relations with the all our neighbours including India. Kashmir issue remained a huge task, however, Pakistan had taken major steps to resolve the issue during the previous governments era, he added. Answering a question about Pakistans policy on Afghanistan, Kasuri said, We can change everything but cant our neighbours. Kasuri said that Pakistan and Israel were aware of the each others capacity of harming each other. Earlier, the session began with the oath taking of the newly inducted Deputy Speaker, Ayesha Bilal Bhatti. The House drew attention of the Speaker towards the damage caused by the heavy rainfall and demanded of the Government to take immediate measures to restore normalcy. Modes for preservation of the rainwater must be adopted by building huge reservoirs that can be used for other purposes as well, said the Leader of Opposition, Lehrasip Hayat. A calling attention notice was presented on the issue of violence against women and sought strict action against the perpetrators. The recent issue of use of violence against a nurse at Jinnah Hospital, Karachi was also discussed and an explanation was also demanded. The Youth Parliament passed a resolution stating that Pakistan and Indias cooperation in the energy sector will help overcome the prevailing crisis.
