Karachi operation to continue: Murad

KARACHI - Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said on Saturday that the issue of extension in Rangers powers will resolved very soon.

Talking to mediamen, he said Qaim Ali Shah did some work on a summary in this regard. “The Karachi operation will be taken to its logical end,” he added.

Earlier, Murad said there was a perception of corruption and bad governance in Sindh, but his government would make all-out efforts to dispel this impression.

Presiding over the maiden meeting of his cabinet at the CM House, Murad asserted: “Removing the perception of corruption is not a difficult task; we will just have to be honest in our work and actions.”

He said there were some big challenges for his government. “The biggest challenge is to remove the perception of corruption and bad governance in the province. We are accountable to the people of Sindh and our party leadership. Above all, we are accountable to Almighty Allah, so our actions and performance must be transparent. If we work with dedication and honestly in the interest of the people of Sindh, nobody would point an accusing finger at us,” he said.

Murad said merit in every sector was his top priority. “If you take your decisions on merit, it will remove all the wrong impressions and propaganda,” he said.

He told all the ministers that he would delegate them full powers and give them a free hand to discharge their duties in the larger interest of the province. “I will give you a free hand and definitely expect the best results from you,” he said. He went on saying that every minister was the chief minister of his department, so all of them must work with full confidence and authority.

Murad directed the ministers to visit police stations, hospitals, schools and other provincial offices and send their findings/reports to the respective ministers. “The ministers will be bound to take action accordingly. This kind of collective efforts will improve the performance of the government departments,” he added.

The chief minister urged all his cabinet members to be punctual in attending their offices and dealing with the public. “If you start your day well in time, you will deliver better,” he said and added it had been his practice and experience. He also directed all the ministers to ensure discipline in their departments.

The cabinet members reposed their full confidence in the chief minister and assured him of following his policies and guidelines.
