Mufti Abdul Qavi denies association with any suspect of Qandeel’s murder case

MULTAN: Prominent cleric Mufti Abdul Qavi, whose name hit the headlines after the “selfies scandal” with slain model girl Qandeel Baloch has strongly condemned the news of his involvement in Qandeel’s murder.

“These are just rumours,” mufti abdul qavi said confidently while talking to the representative of a local TV channel on Sunday.

Following the mysterious murder case of Qandeel Baloch, the police investigated that her cousins Haq Nawaz, Waseem and Arif allegedly abetted her murder for honour and the conspiracy plan was thought up abroad.

According to police sources the culprits were transported to Multan in a cab. The police traced out the cab’s driver who was later identified as Abdul Basit, a resident of Shah Salah ud-Din locality. Further interrogations revealed that the driver is a cousin of Mufti Abdul Qavi.

However, the suspended member of Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Mufti Abdul Qavi denies his acquaintance with Abdul Basit.

“The last contact between me and Qandeel Baloch was 23 days ago. I am not familiar with Abdul Basit or any of the suspects for that matter. Anything I know about them is gained from newspapers and TV channels,” said Mufti Abdul Qavi

Key suspect Waseem has been sent to jail on a 14-day judicial remand whereas Haq Nawaz has also been handed over to police on a five-day physical remand.

Arif who resides in Saudi Arabia would be brought back to Pakistan through Interpol and held accountable.

Waseem had stated in a polygraph test in Lahore earlier this month that he grabbed her arms while Haq Nawaz strangled her.

In Baloch’s case, state became a party and thus parents who denied wishing to pardon Waseem and others involved in their daughter’s murder could not do so even if wanted to.
