Govt decides to launch crackdown against foreigners


PESHAWAR – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to launch a major crackdown against foreigners who are illegally staying in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as it has started collecting detailed information about their legal and illegal properties in the province.
Sources said that all the commissioners including commissioner Malakand and District Officers Revenue have started collecting data regarding Afghan refugees and their illegal properties. Besides Afghan refugees, the authorities concerned would also collect data of other foreigners living in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The provincial government has issued directives to all commissioners and District Revenue Officers to collect all the records of Afghan refugees and their properties in the province. The District Revenue Officer Swat has confirmed that they have started a campaign to know about the legal and illegal properties of Afghan refugees living in Swat and other areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
After these fresh directives the afghan refugees and other illegal immigrants has started their efforts to defend themselves through various tactics protect their properties which they have  It is pertinent to mention here Pakistan has been hosting Afghan refugees for three decades now, with currently more than two million Afghans living in urban and rural areas of Pakistan, including women and children. Pakistan is among the top countries in the world hosting such a large refugee population. Moreover the afghan refugees after securing Pakistani identity cards have through illegal means have purchased properties including lands and markets in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Peshawar city. One of the residents of Peshawar Landi Arba told the Nation that the afghan refugees are living in Zargar Abad, Maskeen Abad, Mohmand Abad, Tehkal and other specific colonies.

He added that the main reason behind the deteriorated law and order situation in Peshawar are the presence of afghan refugees and most of them are involved in criminal activities and after committing crimes they crossing the Pak-Afghan border.
The sources maintained that after getting fake identity cards, these refugees are purchasing lands and after the passage of two years they claiming their domicile of Peshawar, which easily getting from the district administration and revenue department.
Moreover the Afghan refugee has also been recruited in Police and education department after getting identity cards. Several afghan refugee are serving Pakistan Police currently while no is there to inquire their position.
The wake of growing incident of terrorism and burden on Pakistani infrastructure, the government has decided to launch crack down against foreigners which majority include Afghan refuges.
