Constable awarded death sentence in SHO murder case

KARACHI- The Anti-terrorism Court today handed down a death sentence to an accused charged with murdering a Station House Officer (SHO) Preedy in April 2013.

The ATC announced the verdict after charges against the accused, constable Nazakat Ali, were proved and also imposed on him a fine of Rs 0.5 million. Constable Nazakat Ali was a personal guard of the then SHO Preedy Agha Asadullah. He killed the SHO when he was travelling with him in a private car near Saddar in early April, 2013. The Judge Saleem Raza Baloch of the ATC-III had reserved his judgement after recording the evidence of witnesses from both the sides on March 19, 2014. A case was registered under Sections 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code and Section 7 of the Anti-terrorism Act.
