Axact's Shoaib Shaikh re-shifted to FIA office from hospital

Karachi: Axact CEO Shoaib Shaikh, who was admitted to Jinnah Hospital's cardio section late Saturday night, has been re-shifted to anti-human trafficking cell of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Corporate Crime Circle (CCC).

Shoaib Shaikh is in FIA custody for investigations into fake degree scam since Wednesday May 27when he was taken into custody along with his company's six directors.

Shaikh was brought to the hospital's emergency department from where he was shifted to cardiology section.

He was hospitalized after he felt chest pain. After several medical tests including ECG were conducted, the doctors declared him whole. However, Shaikh wanted to move to Aga Khan Hospital for satisfactory medical checkup; however, FIA turned down his plea.

It should be mentioned here that following prolonged interrogations that lasted for over 13 hours, Axact CEO Shoaib Shaikh, along with the company's six directors, was taken into custody in bogus degree scam by FIA in Wednesday’s small hours.

A local court remanded him back into FIA custody till June 4.

An FIR also has been lodged against the Shaikh. Clauses of Pakistan Penal Code, money laundering and cyber crimes were included in the FIR. Shoaib Sheikh's brother-in-law and company's vice chairman also have been booked in the case.
