Multan - A Multan-bound PIA flight (PK-681) departing from Islamabad narrowly escaped a tragedy as it made an emergency landing at Multan International Airport because of a massive dust-storm and bursting of its front tyre, Civil Aviation sources revealed.
The dust storm had an intensity of over 115 KM per hour which shook the plane and the pilot decided to make an emergency landing. However all the passengers remained unhurt. The PTI chief Organiser Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi was also onboard the same flight. He told the journalists that all the passengers prayed for a safe landing and the plane landed safely.
A massive dust storm lashed Multan city at the pace of over 115 kilometre per hour on Saturday evening, leaving entire business of the city suspended. The storm uprooted trees, electricity polls and billboards, besides causing a number of fire incidents. Walls of a number of houses collapsed and more than two dozen people got injured in different areas in storm-related incidents. Power supply remained suspended for six hours in different areas.
