LONDON: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has been shifted to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after successful open-heart surgery at The Harley Street Clinic of London, Punjab Chief Minster, Shehbaz Sharif told media persons outside the hospital on Tuesday.
Accompanied by Hassan and Hussain Nawaz, sons of prim minister Nawaz Sharif and his son Hamza Shehbaz, he said that Nawaz Sharif had already faced four bypasses and he is rapidly improving after the Tuesday heart surgery.
He said that the prime minister will return country after advice of his doctors. However, he said that the nation would be updated on daily basis about the health condition of the prime minister.
The Punjab Chief Minster said the prime minister’s illness news has united the Pakistani nation, adding that the leaders of political parties and other personalities have expressed good wished and prayed for his early health recovery which is a good omen.
Shehbaz Sharif said that after conducting operation, the doctors called both his nephews and congratulated them on successful operation of their father. He said that the doctors’ advices would be fully followed.
Meanwhile, daughter of the prime minister, Maryam Nawaz announced on Twitter.
“Prime Minister shifted to ICU. Alhamdolillah stable,” Maryam, who is accompanying the prime minister along with other members of the Sharif family in London, wrote on her verified Twitter account.
