PTI voices concern over unjustified power bills

LAKKI MARWAT - Expressing concern over dispatch of inflated electricity bills to the consumers, the local chapter of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has demanded of Peshawar Electric Supply Company to take notice of the matter and punish the officials involved in the practice.
Talking to local journalists after party meeting here on Tuesday, a local PTI leader Ahmad Nawaz said that to pay power bills had become unaffordable for poor residents of the district. He said that local authorities concerned had sent inflated bills to the consumers in Lakki city to cover their inefficiency and power theft.
“Electricity stealing is common in rural localities of the district but consumers of urban areas like Lakki city have to face the brunt of it”, he maintained.
He told that the power supply company should focus on eliminating the menace of power theft and launching action against defaulters instead of putting the burden of inflated bills on the backs of poor consumers.
“The poor consumers who pay their electricity bills regularly will have no option other than to indulge into the practice of power stealing if local authorities concerned did not mend their ways”, he maintained.
He demanded of the government to take notice of the matter and reduce electricity rates to make utility bills affordable for consumers.
