284 students awarded degrees at NUST convocation

Islamabad - An impressive convocation ceremony was held at the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (SEECS), National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) here on Thursday.
This was the 7th undergraduate convocation of SEECS to award degrees to 284 graduating students on completion of their education in the disciplines of Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Information and Communication Systems Engineering and Information Technology.  
The ceremony was attended by distinguished guests from academia, government departments and corporate sector, besides the parents of the graduating students.  
Chief Guest Almas Haider, Entrepreneur, Engineer and Chairman of Synthetic Products Enterprises Ltd. and Rector NUST, Engineer Muhammad Asghar presided over the convocation. On this occasion, President and Rector gold medals were awarded to outstanding graduates on the basis of academics and projects.
Saba Irshad from BIT-12 won President’s Gold Medal, and Komal Sattar from BIT-12 claimed Chancellor’s Silver Medal and Rector’s Gold Medal respectively. Shahroze Humayun Kabir, Ali Taqweem and Sidrah Shoaib from BEE-2 won the President’s Gold Medal, Chancellor’s Silver Medal and Rector’s Gold Medal respectively. Tayyaba Naz, Rida Saleem and Salman Ahmed Ansari from BE(SE)-1 claimed President’s Gold Medal, Chancellor’s Silver Medal and Rector’s Gold Medal respectively. Rohail Mustafa Syed, Muhammad Saad Ashfaq and Memoona Farooq from BICSE-8 won President’s Gold Medal, Chancellor’s Silver Medal and Rector’s Gold Medal respectively.
Keeping with the last year’s tradition, The Best Researcher and The Best Teacher awards were also given away at this august occasion. Dr Osman Hassan received The Best Researcher award while Dr Tuasif Tauqir claimed The Best Teacher award.
The chief guest, Almas Haider, Entrepreneur, Engineer and Chairman of Synthetic Products Enterprises Ltd, expressing his admiration said, “Universities in developed countries are important tools to fuel national development. They are the wellsprings of research and intellectual activity in a country.
 It is a matter of great satisfaction that in alignment with NUST traditions, SEECS has attained a high mantle of excellence in a very short span of time. Especially praiseworthy are the strides achieved in the field of research and collaboration with the world-class universities and research centres.”
The convocation concluded gracefully, leaving its indelible imprint on the minds of young graduates and their families.
