ISLAMABAD - The two coalition partners in the provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) - Thursday looked standing face to face after a statement by the PTI chief.
Imran Khan gave a severe reaction in response to a statement reportedly made by JI chief Sirajul Haq in which Haq clubbed PTI with PML-N, saying both were two sides of the same coin.
“PML-N and PTI are two sides of the same coin and they are least bothered to resolve the people’s issues,” the JI chief had said while addressing a gathering the other day.
The Chairman PTI in a statement said, “The JI should stop playing on both sides of the wicket and tell the people of Pakistan where it stands: for change or with the status quo.”
Khan reminded Siraj that wherever constituencies have opened for vote verification, massive irregularities and blatant systematic rigging has been uncovered.
He said that just in 3 constituencies, NA 154, NA 125, NA 118, ballot boxes’ stuffing with fake votes has been discovered. Khan also pointed out that in PP 147’s six polling stations massive fraud has been proven. That is why in NA 122 the Speaker of the NA continues to hide behind delaying tactics preventing the verification procedure from proceeding, he said.
Khan said Sirajul Haq’s failure to recognise the injustice of the May 2013 elections despite a national political consensus that systematic rigging took place raises serious questions on the commitment of the JI and its chief to implementation of Islamic principles of justice.
Siraj has also conveniently forgotten the number of NAB cases against both Nawaz Sharif and Asif Zardari, Imran said, adding this in itself is a gross injustice. He said he has neither got any assets or funds abroad nor has he any cases against him.
Khan said if Sirajul Haq and JI are really committed to enforcing Islamic laws, then they need to stand by PTI in its struggle for justice and its fight against the corrupt and decadent rulers.
PTI LEADERS PHONE JI CHIEF
Monitoring Desk adds: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi phoned Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq on Thursday night, reported private TV channels.
According to the report, both the leaders of PTI have clarified to the JI chief Siraj that Imran Khan’s criticism of the JI was result of misunderstanding and it could be solve with mutual understanding.
The report said that the meet-up between the JI chief and Imran Khan is expected very soon.
It is pertinent to mention here that the PTI chief Imran had criticised JI policy regarding assisting government, PTI and PAT in negotiations after media reported that JI chief had criticised Imran.
The JI clarified that media misreported its chief statement and he did not give any remarks against Imran Khan and JI chief also had instructed party leadership not to respond on Imran Khan’s anti-JI statements.
