Islamabad, Pakistan : The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday reiterated its earlier order that the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) should hold its planned sit in at 'Democracy Park and Speech Corner’, located near Islamabad's Parade Ground in Shakarparian and ordered the PTI chief to appear in court.
The court summoned Imran Khan and issued instructions to IG Police to escort the PTI chief to the court.
During hearing, Imran Khan’s lawyer Naeem Bukhari told IHC that the party workers would start protest from Parade Ground. Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui asked the lawyer to clarify the statement and said that the party will not be allowed to take the protest out to the streets.
“Islamabad lockdown will not be allowed. If PTI fails to follow the court’s orders then certain measures will be taken to thwart the party’s plans,” Justice Shaukat Aziz said.
He added that Imran Khan is not above the law and that no one will be allowed to take the law in their own hands.
The court asked DC Islamabad what measures had been taken by the administration to specify a space for the sit-in. To this, DC Islamabad replied that the administration had informed PTI but got no response from the party.
Taking a jibe at Sunday’s ‘black label honey’ incident, Justice Shaukat Aziz joked, “Please ask Imran Khan to arrange for a bottle of black label honey, winter is coming.”
Meanwhile, PTI has announced that it will challenge the ruling of Islamabad High Court in the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
