PTI, PAT, AML join hands against govt

LAHORE - The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, the Pakistan Awami Tehreek and the Awami Muslim League have announced to mark September 3 (Saturday) as joint protest day against the government.

PAT Chairman Dr Tahirul Qadri, PTI Secretary General Jahangir Tareen and AML President Sheikh Rashid Ahmed at a Press conference said that their protest movement will continue till the end of Nawaz Sharif rule over the country.

They said that the other Opposition parties will also take on board in anti-government move.

“All Opposition parties now have no other option but to go to masses,” they said.

The Press conference was held at PAT head office Model Town where the PTI delegation compromising of Jahangir Tareen, Ch Sarwar, Mehmoodur Rasheed, Ijaz Chaudhry, Shoaib Siddiqui and AML President Sheikh Rashid held meeting with Dr Qadri.

It was second visit of PTI senior leaders to Model Town within three days.

PTI Chairman Imran Khan also made two contacts with Dr Qadri in past two days.

PTI is holding Accountability March in Lahore and PAT is organising Qisas Rally in Rawalpindi on September 3.

At joint Press conference, the leaders said that the government was not ready for fair investigation of Panama Leaks issue and saving Prime Minister and his family’s skin whose names were mentioned in the leaks.

Similarly the families of Model Town victims were still waiting justice, they said.

“We will fully participate in each others protests on Saturday,” said the leaders. “Sharifs are ally of India. They compromise on sovereignty of the country, backing terrorism and did not utter a single world against those who spoke against Pakistan and the institution responsible for the country’s security,” alleged Dr Qadri.

To a question, he replied PAT and PTI had unanimity of views and both the parties were united against Sharifs who according to him were looting country’s resources and behaving like kings.

Sheikh Rashid said that the PTI and PAT again made alliance and now the other Opposition will be approached to make a wider alliance against the “corrupt rulers.”

Tareen said that all Opposition parties had been invited to join the PTI’s Lahore March.

He said that the movement against government would gain more momentum after September 3.

PAT spokesperson said the PTI delegation held detailed meeting with PAT leader Dr Hassan Mohiuddin, Khurram Nawaz Gandapur and Basharat Jaspal and discussed political alliance and future strategy.

On the other side, Opposition leader in Punjab Assembly Mehmoodur Rasheed made contacts with leaders of PPP, Jamaat-e-Islami, Majlis-e-Wahdatul Muslimeen, PML-Q and other parties and invited them to join PTI march.
