ISLAMABAD The Federal Cabinet here on Wednesday approved in principle the Draft Bill for the establishment of the Capital University of Science and Technology at Islamabad. However the establishment of the University is subject to concurrence of the Ministry of Law & Justice along with the endorsement of Draft Pakistan Coinage Bill, 2010. It also approved the Private Power and Infrastructure Board Bill, 2010, with the direction to the Ministry of Water & Power to include the Secretary, Ministry of Environment and Additional Secretary FATA Secretariat, in the Board. The Federal Cabinet that met with the Prime Minister in the chair, at the Prime Ministers Secretariat also approved twelve proposals made by different Ministries regarding bilateral cooperation with a number of countries in various fields. Reviewing the status of implementation of Cabinets decisions, the Prime Minister took note of the red-tapism and directed the Ministry of Local Government & Rural Development to expedite the survey, data collection, records and preparation of plans for regularization of Katchi Abadies in the country. These proposals include the start of negotiations of Pakistan with Nigeria in trade and investment, with Syria on trade, economic and technical cooperation and with Libya for closer cooperation between the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) and the Trade Promotion Centre of Libya. The Cabinet also gave its final nod on the agreements signed with Vietnam as well as Mexico on the agreement of promotion and protection of investment between Pakistan. Besides this, it gave the approval to start negotiations with Syria for entering an agreement in the field of labour and housing. It also gave approval to Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) signed by Pakistan with Argentina including MoU on the establishment of an Asian Food and Agriculture Cooperation Initiatives as well as an MoU on cooperation in the field of sanitary and Phytosanitary issues related to bilateral trade between the two countries. The Cabinet approved of the ratification of agreements between Pakistan and Ukraine on Trade and Economic Cooperation and the Air Services Agreement between Pakistan and the Slovak Republic. The Cabinet approved the igning of the agreement for cooperation between Pakistan and Tajikistan in the field of sports and ratification of the Revised Charter of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC). The Cabinet also approved the draft for Biological & Toxin Weapon Convention Bill, 2010. The Prime Minister, while reviewing the status of implementation of the Cabinets decision, came hard on the Ministry of Local Government & Rural Development with the direction to speed up the survey, data collection, records and preparation of plans for regularization of Katchi Abadies in the country.
