RAWALPINDI (APP) The joint session of the National Assembly and Senate regarding Balochistan package has been summoned on December 7, while the meeting of the Balochisan Committee headed by Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani would be held on December 3 in Islamabad. This was stated by Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Dr Babar Awan while talking to media persons here on Tuesday. He said the joint session of the two houses would be held in the Parliament House on December 7 (Monday) at 10 am. The Minister said that Prime Minister Gilani would preside over the formal meeting of Balochistan Committee represented by the assembly members, bureaucrats and leaders of Pakistan Peoples Party. A road map for Balochistan province will be finalised in this meeting, he added. Awan said the government of PPP would end the sense of deprivation from Balochistan province. He said that advertisements for appointment of 5,000 graduates from Balochistan province have been issued for publication, adding, it will be in addition to the prescribed job quota for the province. Meanwhile, talking to reporters after condoling the death of the mother of Ammar Mehdi, Tehsil General Secretary of PPP at his residence, Awan said that billions of rupees loans were waived off from 30 major banks and financial institutions during 1985 and 2003. The credit was borrowed by three big business families, three influential political families and retired army generals, He described the waiving off of these loans as Mother of the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO), and added the record of all those who waived off bank loans was available in the National Assembly. He said loans amounting to more than Rs 1 million were waived off from 30 banks and financial institutions during 1983 and 2003. They included Habib Bank Limited, National Bank of Pakistan, United Bank Limited, Pak Kuwait Investment Company, Saudi Pak, National Development Finance Corporation, Industrial Development Bank of Pakistan, Muslim Commercial Bank, Pak-Libya Holding Company, Investment Corporation of Pakistan, Allied Bank Limited, Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited, Regional Development Company, TFC, Natioanl Investment Trust, Small Business Finance Corporation, CB Fund, Services Corporation, National Industrial Corporation and Mercantile Finance. He said a section of media has initiated trial against Pakistan Peoples Partys founder Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto his daughter Benazir Bhutto and now President Asif Ali Zardari. He said NRO has become a part of history and the President in this regard would not promulgate any ordinance, while other ordinances would be presented after making slight amendments.
