MINGORA - At last, after a lapse of two years, police woke up from deep slumber and lodged a case against the accused militants who publicly beat up a girl, Saira wife of Fazal Azeem, in Charbagh area of Swat back in 2008. Clad in a dark blue burqa held by two militants and her face pressed against the ground and a third militant wearing a black turban whipped her 30 times in more than a minute and half while Sairas cries could be heard which provoked an international outcry of fear and condemnation both at home and internationally. According to details, Additional SP Alamzeb Khan along with DSP Khuwaza Khela Yousaf Ali khan and SHO Charbagh Zar Bakht Khan told the media that police rushed to the area after they received information about the presence of the alleged accused Taliban in the hilly area who beat up Saira w/o Fazal Azeem of Tehsil Charbagh in 2008. Police lodged a case in accordance to anti-terror act against the culprits namely Commander Maulvi Andur Rahman, Fazal Hadi, Roshan Ali and Mohammad Ali. Additional SP said that police would soon arrest the hidden culprits and provide full security to the affected girl. Meanwhile, two detained militants were shot dead when they tried to escape from security forces custody. According to military sources Imran and Abdur rahim who were arrested by security forces some days before were been interrogated, in the mean while they tried to escape on which security forces opened firing on them and kill them on the spot.
