LAHORE\\KARACHI The hefty raise in prices of petroleum products by the government has been challenged in Lahore and Sindh High Courts. A civil miscellaneous application was filed in LHC on Saturday by one Hameed Goryia through his counsel Muteen-ul-Haq Chaudhry in his main petition pending before the court against the increase made in gas prices. The petitioner says hike in petroleum prices will jack up prices of all items of daily use putting more economic pressure on and making life for the poor more difficult. He said the poor in the country are already hit hard by high prices, poverty and inflation and the recent increase in the POL prices, is bound to bring more miseries to their life. The petitioner contended that the nine percent increase in oil prices is like a bomb on the poor to shatter their life in difficulties and problems as the increase in the petrol, diesel and kerosene oil will enhance transportation expenditure of all items and the burden of which would, in turn, be shifted to the poor.
