FATHER of Pakistan's nuclear programme Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan has said that the West feels that Pakistan being a nuclear power poses a great threat to their interests. Talking to a private TV channel, Dr Khan said the US had predicted almost ten years back that Pakistan would break up, and the West and US were still hatching conspiracies to fulfil their agenda. There were traitors and opportunists in the country and these people could play a role in accomplishing the sinister agenda of the West, he added. The nuclear scientist said it was the duty of Pakistan's leadership to defend its nuclear programme. Pakistan was the only Muslim nuclear power and that was not acceptable to its enemies, he added. He said as per the Western agenda, Pakistan could easily be convinced to abandon its nuclear programme after dividing it. He said only those nations, which had rendered sacrifices in their greater national interests, could survive. Talking to the channel, Dr Sammar Mubarak Mand said that allegations against Dr A Q Khan about stealing or smuggling nuclear technology were unsubstantiated. "Neither Dr A Q Khan stole nuclear technology nor provided it to any other country," Dr Sammar said.
