LAHORE Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on Tuesday increased the Umrah fares by Rs 2,000. New Umrah fare charges is now Rs 76,000 which was previously Rs 74,000. A PIA official said the raise was not announced because of the increase in petroleum prices, but the management decided to increase the fares due to rush of Umrah passengers on PIA flights. According to the official, all the international airlines adopted the same business strategy to earn more profit during the peak seasons and that it was not only PIA which announced raise in fares when the passengers numbers have been increased.
