QUETTA A volcano has started spewing lava in Ziarat District of Balochistan, some 75 kilometres away from Quetta. According to reports reaching here, the volcanic activity occurred in Jhari area of Ziarat at Torghar Mountain on Monday night. Residents of nearby area claimed the fire fumes at top of the mountain in the night witnessed for last few days while on Monday night the mountain started spewing lava. Jhari area is located near Waam, which was badly affected in October 29, 2008, when a severe earthquake hit Ziarat. Talking to newsmen, District Coordinator Officer (DCO) Siddiq Mandokhel confirmed that lava spewed from a volcano at Jhari. I myself visited Jhari and examined the mountain and found 1 metre lava has been spewed, he added. He said that experts were being dispatched there to examine the area. He said that all arrangements had been made in the area to meet any emergent situation while some local people had been shifted to safer places.
