Pleas to reopen corruption references against Sharif brothers rejected

Accountability Court has rejected the NAB's pleas seeking the restoration of three pending corruption references against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Chief Nawaz Sharif and his family on Monday. According to the details, Judge of Rawalpindi Accountability Court #2 Justice Wamiq Javed announced the verdict, saying that there was no signature of Chairman NAB in the petition, seeking restoration of corruption references against Sharif brothers therefore references can not be reopened. The court had earlier reserved its judgment and was then scheduled to announce it on April 26 (Monday), however, the decision was again put off until May 3. NAB's lawyer had prayed for the revival of pending references, including default on payment of loan by Ittefaq Foundries, default on payment of tax by the Sharifs on Hudabia Paper Mills, as well as a third reference regarding their Raiwand Assets. NAB had argued that the government's decision to delay references against the Sharif brothers was an administrative issue. NAB had filed a petition earlier for reopening references against Sharif Brothers, which was cancelled that it did not contain signature of NAB chairman. This current petition has also been rejected because it was not signed by any authority.
