ISLAMABAD- Federal Minister for Railways Khwaja Saad Rafique said today, Pakistan Railway could not be revived without foreign aid.
The Minister said, during the meeting of National Assembly Standing Committee for Railways, work on 35 projects worth Rs 43 billion was underway for revival of railway. He informed that Pakistan Railways was facing serious dearth of funds.
Rafique told that railways sector suffered a loss of Rs 7.45 billion [in vandalism acts] at the time of assassination of Former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.
He, however, stated that double track of Karachi and Lahore would be inaugurated by the end of ongoing year. If foreign aid received, the track from Lahore to Rawalpindi will also be revamped, he added.
