ISLAMABAD The security forces have secured Talibans stronghold Sararogha in South Waziristan Agency after a fierce fight in which 21 terrorists were killed while one soldier was martyred and two others got injured. According to a press release issued by ISPR here on Tuesday, the security forces in the ongoing operation Rah-e-Nijat have commenced sanitization of Sararogha on Jandola-Sararogha axis. A number of IEDs have been neutralised. During engagements with terrorists, 16 of them were killed while one soldier was martyred and another was injured due to a mine blast. Two suspects were also apprehended. On Shakai-Kaniguram axis, the security forces after completely securing Kaniguram have started search and clearance operations. Arms and ammunition are being recovered from different compounds. Forces are also extending on the adjoining ridges to increase their area of influence. Terrorists fired six rockets at Kaniguram, however no loss was reported. Sanitization of Ghani Khel and surrounding area has also been commenced. Five terrorists were killed during engagements. On Razmak-Makeen axis, village China and area up to Mian Nur Khel have been completely secured and consolidation is in progress. The security forces secured area up to south of Manza Sar top and consolidation of positions is under process. Terrorists fired two rockets from northern direction near Razmak check posts. No loss has been reported. One soldier was injured near Chashmai Bridge while neutralising an IED. It further said that 679 displaced families of Waziristan had moved to district Zhob, Balochistan, while 7,326 cash cards had been distributed amongst the displaced families of Waziristan. Agencies add: The forces are seeking to expand their control in a blistering air and ground offensive. Sararogha is one of the most strategic towns where ground and air forces are fighting in the forbidding mountains on the Afghan border. 21 militants were killed during the last 24 hours and thus pushing the total number to 364 since the operation started, according to information provided by the Army. The Army has reported the deaths of 37 soldiers.
