Delhi rejects reports of involvement in Lahore

NEW DELHI (Agencies) - Rejecting Pakistani officials' allegations hinting at India's involvement in the Lahore attack on Sri Lankan cricket team, Indian Home Minister P Chidambaram said India 'does not tolerate terror, does not export it', reports Zee News. "The allegation is absolute rubbish. They had done the same before after Mumbai attack and it was proved baseless. We don't export terror and will not tolerate it," Chidambaram told a TV news channel. Chidambaram also blamed Pakistan for what had happened in Lahore as it was a result of not heeding India's advice. "Pakistan is taking half measures to fight terror. It needs to dismantle the terror infrastructure. Arresting o one or two persons will not work," he added. Hinting at intelligence inputs about the possibility of terrorist attacks during polls, he said militants might attempt to do something "dramatic" during election times. "We have of course specific intelligence about the movement of people. In the run up to elections, there will be great temptation to attempt something dramatic," the Indian Home Minister said on the possibility of terrorist attacks during elections. Chidambaram said counter-terrorism measures were being taken to check the terrorists' plans to carry out attacks and every piece of intelligence was being taken "seriously" by the government. He said the Indian government did not have much confidence in the Pakistani system but was giving "room" to Pakistan to take action against armed groups there. "Not much confidence in Pakistani system. Yet we have given them room, we have been very patient," Chidambaram said in an interview with Headlines Today. He added that Pakistan had taken some steps but after that it has done "nothing." According to The Times of India report, the probe into Mumbai terror attacks has led investigating agencies to ascertain the real identity of wanted Lashkar-e-Taiba men Abu Al Qama and Zarar Shah. Both of them are residents of Pakistan. Investigations have revealed that Mazhar Iqbal, a resident of Mandi tehsil of Punjab (Pakistan), was code-named as Abu Al Qama by the LT, official sources claimed. The other LT member identified by the security agencies was Zarar Shah whose actual name was Abdul Wajid, a resident of Sheikhpura district, the sources maintained.
