At least 12 killed, over 15 injured in Hangu suicide blast

At least 12 people were killed and more than 15 sustained critical injuries including women and children in a suicide blast near petrol pump in Tehsil Tal of district Hangu on Friday. A suicide bomber rammed his explosive laden vehicle into civilian convoy in way to Kurram Agency, resulting in death of more than 12 people and several injured while numerous vehicles were also destroyed in the blast. The security forces cordoned off the whole area and shifted injured to Combine Military Hospital (CMH) for treatment. The eyewitnesses said that the suicide bomber targeted the civilian convoy when it reached near the pump. They informed that some firing sounds were also heard after the blast at the site. They also added that the women and children were also injured in the blast. Twelve people were killed and several injured when a suicide bomber attack a caravan of passenger buses in Tehsil Tal of district Hangu near petrol pump. Commissioner Kohat Khalid Khan has conformed death of 10 people in the suicide blast saying the incident occurred in a border area. The bomber was on foot, he added. The caravan was going to Kurram Agency. Three vehicles were damaged. Dead bodies and injured were being shifted to CMH Tal and other hospitals till last reports came in. On the other hand, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani have strongly condemned the blast and ordered immediate investigation in to the incident. In a separate condolence message, the President and Prime Ministers expressed grief and sorrow over the loss of life in suicide bombing. They made it clear such cowardly act can not deter Government's resolve to fight against militancy. Chief PML-N Mian Mohammad Nawaz Sharif, Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif, Chief Minister NWFP Amir Haider Khan Hoti, Chief JUI-F Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Federal Defense Minister Ch. Ahmed Mukhtar and other Political leaders condemned the blast in strongest term.
