PESHAWAR - The police Thursday claimed of averting a suicide bid by killing two suspects riding an explosive-laden vehicle on Zhob Road in district Dera Ismail Khan. Sources said that police was deployed, on a tip-off, at all entry and exit points and at around 6pm, two suspected persons were seen coming on a van from Luni area in tehsil Kulachi. The police signalled them to stop near Sabu village, but they opened fire on the police and tried to speed away from the scene. Police responded with fire and suddenly the van exploded with a bang. Resultantly, both the men, whose identity could not be ascertained, were killed on the spot. Bomb Disposal Squad personnel rushed to the scene and collected pieces of evidence from the blast site. No group claimed responsibility for the incident till filing of this report.
