ISLAMABAD The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has earmarked Rs 91 million from the public money for fencing Presidency, Judges Enclave and Zardari House in Sector F-8/2 of the federal capital. In a security environment where common man has been left at the mercy of brutal terrorists, one after another steps are being taken for protecting the elite. As per the PC-1, Rs 39.05 million would be incurred on erecting a steel fence around the Zardari House, which already has high walls and other security measures, while the Judges Enclave and the Presidency would cost the remaining portion of the hefty amount. The security expenditures on the Judges Enclave and the Presidency may be rational, as both are public places and belong to none but the nation. But no reason can be offered for the Rs 39.05 million of taxpayers money being incurred on a private house owned by our President. Under what basis CDA was going to spend such a big amount on a private house in the name of security, especially when it cannot be termed a camp office - the usual practice to upgrade houses of leaders in cities outside of the capital CDAs newly appointed Member (Engineering) Jabbar Melano had no answer when contacted. Moreover, the CDA Chairman, Imtiaz Inayat Elahi Thursday took serious action over a report published in TheNation regarding the Jinnah Garden Housing Society, which is operating without proper approval of the CDA. Elahi has directed Member (Planning) of CDA Tanvir Bukhari to carry out complete inquiry in the matter, it has been learnt.
