Pakistan reserves right to retaliate in future

ISLAMABAD - Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Tariq Majid Friday condemned the callous and wanton act by NATO Forces at Angoor Adda and said that such cross-border strikes would be counter-productive. Talking to visiting German Defence Minister Franz Josef Jung, who called on him at his office, General Tariq Majid said that Pakistan reserved the right to appropriately retaliate cross border strikes in future. According to ISPR, both had also exchanged views focusing on bilateral ties and regional security environment. Chairman JCSC while discussing regional security issues reiterated that a stable Afghanistan is in the interest of the region as well as Pakistan. However, he said, Afghan leadership in order to conceal its own shortcomings keeps slamming Pakistan's sincerity with preposterous allegations time and again. Blaming Pakistan's Intelligence Agencies of recent killings of the foreign nationals in Afghanistan is a case in point, he noted. General Tariq appreciated pragmatic German approach to deal with complex security situation in Afghanistan for enabling it to govern itself. While discussing the bilateral ties between Pakistan and Germany, CJCSC emphasised that both sides ought to strengthen relationship for enduring and meaningful partnership. Both sides also expressed satisfaction over the ongoing military-to-military interaction. Josef Jung appreciated the pivotal role of Pakistan in fighting terrorism and its invaluable support to coalition forces operating inside Afghanistan.
