PPP wont quit Punjab govt: Babar

LAHORE- Federal Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Dr. Babar Awan on Thursday said his party will not quit Punjab government, and if the PML-N wanted to sack PPP Ministers it was free to do so. While talking to editors and columnists here, he said that if the PML-N decided to expel PPP from Punjab coalition, his party will formulate a strategy to deal with the new situation accordingly. Awan made it clear that PPP did not want to break its alliance with the PML-N only because it favoured the politics of reconciliation for the sake of democracy. He expressed the hope that politics of horse-trading would be shunned in the province. He said it was in the interest of country and democracy that present government should complete its tenure. He said that no new government would make a difference given the economic and political situation already prevailing in the country. Referring to the assassination of Governor Punjab, he said Salmaan Taseer was a political dignitary and his killing was also a political matter. He said though PPP has declared it a political murder but had refrained from jumping to conclusion by not pointing a finger at some specific individual. He was of the view that war against terror had yet to reach a crucial stage. He assured that nobody would be allowed to commit extra-judicial killing and that the rule of law would be implemented. According to teachings of Islam, he said, the killing an innocent person tantamounts to killing of entire humanity. He said new laws would be introduced for rule of law besides eradicating the menace of corruption.
